Dim Sum Duck

An earthy Hong Kong jewel in a near-shabby commerical stretch of Kings Cross, opened in 2020 and eschewing the ethos of the area's massive (and corporate-glossy) redevelopment. As the label says, this family-run establishment specialises in dim sum and roast duck, and excels at both. Few restaurant queues in London are as nonstop (and every day) as those outside this inconspicuous hotspot that accommodates perhaps 25, including seating inside a makeshift-looking tent shelter out front that looks a bit like a crime scene. Prawn and chive dumplings, cheung fun, beef ho fun, salt and pepper squid, hot and sour soup, the afore-mentioned duck and other favourites all qualify as exemplary, all made with a home-made touch and not really resembling their more conventional Chinatown counterparts. Friendly too. Opens at 12 noon, with the queue kick-off happening well before then.
