A very fine, unfussy and unaffectedly hip establishment serving excellent modern European dishes that won't cost you an arm and a leg, though you might be eating one. It's a rather intimate (read small) and simply designed room that's also a bit cramped and a bit potentially loud, but terribly warm and welcoming. Great food (including daily specials and particularly nice breads) with service to match. Serious wine list too. Opened 2011. They now take dinner reservations, and there are a few bar places overlooking the slightly raised open kitchen at the back. The restaurant's Shoreditch/Hoxton sibling 8 Hoxton Square closed in early 2018.

The balls. Tricky to get a table sometimes, but always worth it. Just really good food and the right level of buzzy-friendly.
