The Fielding Hotel

What do you think of this place? Love it or not?
Obscenely central gay-friendly hotel
Defying all expectations of what constitutes a hotel in the center of an ultra-major city, the Fielding is a quiet, quaint and welcoming place situated in a court passage way within literally a stone's throw from the Royal Opera House, a minute from trendy Covent Garden shops, six minutes from Soho and fantastically near Holborn, Bloomsbury, Trafalgar Square and many theatres. What's particularly unusual here is the individualised look of the rather pokey rooms, whose basic but agreeable furnishings are sweetly complemented by carefully considered decor and upper-crust kitsch, with non-snooty room prices to match. There's no lift (elevator) and no breakfast either, but local options are way better than average. Look for the five beautiful red telephone boxes just a few steps away. Tube station: Covent Garden.
