Donmar Warehouse

100% love it
Buzzy trendy starry not-for-profit central London theatre
With a capacity of just 250, the Donmar Warehouse is a fringe-theatre-sized and hugely popular West End venue which now-Hollywood film director Sam Mendes (AMERICAN BEAUTY) put on the international map when he became artistic director in 1992. Not quite experimental, the theatre stages adventurous and high-quality revivals of the classics as well as modern dramatic plays, with comedies not such a priority. More often than not the productions sell out — sometimes owing to famous-film-actor cast members — but the outstanding Barclays Front Row scheme offers £10 front row seats, available in person or online from 10am every Monday for performances two weeks later.

      Loves it

A less worthy-heavy and pedantic theatre experience than what you often find at the Almeida and the Royal Court. And you can walk three minutes to Soho for a drink afterwards.
