Successful and buzzy collaborative effort of Richard Barckle, Soho House founder Nick Jones and Richard Caring (current owner of Le Caprice, the Ivy, J Sheekey etc), this rather sumptuous but more fun than stuffy restaurant (with an exquisite hotel on top) trips the 18th century into the now, with contemporary art on show, discreetly naughty wallpaper, a long and stylish bar and modern approaches to English comfort classics that are neither cheap nor outrageously pricey. Attracts names, Soho regulars and older gentlemen with young female companions. Try for one of the few spacious red banquettes at the back. Opened November 2009. Since 2013 Caring has taken more of a back seat, with Nick Jones overseeing the creative side. Located 16 seconds north of Soho's Old Compton St.
