The Bengal Lancer

(2 Ratings)
Particularly good Indian, but not in the city centre

Unpretentiously yummy Indian food, mostly 'East Bengali', with shades of the Punjab, Lahore and Bangladesh. This family-run operation started in 1984, when the Bangladeshi-run leather industry in London's Whitechapel area started to wane. At this time the current owners of the Lancer shifted their attentions from leather to food. The only snag is the location — Kentish Town, just north of Camden Town — which is a tad north for the Soho- and centre-centric. But it's just ten minutes on the Northern Line from Tottenham Court Road to Kentish Town.
