And What? Queer Arts Festival & HOME Projects present the WORLD PREMIER of...
Bearded Brutes (an exhibition) by Mark Leeming
From Wednesday 5 October to Friday 28 October
Rich Mix London // Mezzanine Gallery // FREE
Bearded Brutes is the world premier of the hyper-coloured and stylised photographic exhibition by Mark Leeming. It blurs conventional perceptions of masculinity and femininity using beards, make-up, glitter and digital manipulation. Striking and in-your-face Bearded Brutes celebrate visibility within the LGBTQI community.
The portraits not only explore the feminine in the masculine (and vice-a-versa) they also reveal a little of each models unique personality and challenge the viewer to reassess definitions of beauty.
On the night of the Open House Preview (05th Oct) there will be drinks (obv!) also video profiles of the brutes AND a must see free film programme of shorts curated by Fringe! Film Fest that resonate with the themes of the exhibition. We will also have a make-over booth by Sink The Pink stalwart Stoli

HOME Projects is an ongoing series of exhibitions in the Granada Foundation Galleries at HOME, Manchester’s international centre for contemporary visual art, theatre and independent film. It is a strand that focuses upon support of emerging NW artists, independent curators, explores the nature of affordable art and also highlights creative practice otherwise excluded from gallery presentation, including art direction, illustration and new writing.
