The Queen's Gallery, Buckingham Palace

No ratings yet
Paintings worth looking at if you happen to be in the neighbourhood

Tucked away to one side of Buckingham Palace you'll find this 1962 art gallery accessed by an adorable Doric-columned entrance added as part of a major 1999–2002 expansion. The Queen's Gallery cannot compete with London's major art establishments for quantity and quality, but there are always a few jewels among the 450 works shown on rotation, all from the Royal Collection (art works owned by the Queen "in trust for the nation"). And if you like the idea of leaving London with a shopping bag inscribed with 'Buckingham Palace', then the gallery gift shop is definitely worth a look. Closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

Hours
Mon, Thu to Sun 10am—5.30pm daily (last admission 4.15pm )
