Leighton House Museum

(2 Ratings)
Uniquely decorative 19th-century house

Leighton House ranks as one of London's Victorian jewels, built in 1866 by and for accomplished painter Lord Leighton (1839–96), whose colourful taste in wall tiles, floor mosaics and exotica from his international travels make this a London residence well worth going ever so slightly out of the way for. The house features in many films, including Terry Gilliam's BRAZIL (1985). Reopened April 2010 following extensive works. Located within minutes of Kensington High St and its pretty village surroundings. Closed Tuesday.
