Design Museum

Museum opened in 1989, the vision of design mogul Terence Conran, with a permanent collection that is relatively small by London arts standards while nevertheless ranking as a world leader in its commitment to product, industrial, graphic, fashion and architectural design. Expect a choice of at least three exhibitions at any given time. In November 2016 the museum moved from riverside Bermondsey in south London to this fabulous new location: the former Commonwealth Institute on Kensington High St (a 1962 building by Robert Matthew and Stirrat Johnson-Marshall). Designer Terence Conran's millions made it all possible. The interior cavity is big, airy and a thing in itself. The museum is free of charge and Includes a library and archive, requisite food and shopping options and a studio.
