Local boozer with a gay twist
A very friendly and local pub on the main drag in Walthamstow, perched upstairs on the first floor occupying, since 1977, a long space that previously was part of a now-dormant cinema (and which developers hope to transform into a modern cinema/music/comedy venue). The Victoria has a worn and seasoned feel, with some nice features. During the week the clientele is decidedly straight, but weekends take a happy turn for the gay, starting Friday evenings with karaoke, reaching a climax on three Saturday nights a month with cabaret, drag, DJs and dancing, and winding down the following day with home-cooked Sunday afternoon roasts (1pm–6pm). Features include a pool table, darts and an outdoor area for smokers. Management and staff are either gay or gay-friendly. A
