London's gargantuan shopping mall
Europe's second largest indoor shopping development, located ever so slightly out of the way in west London's Shepherd's Bush but powerful enough to give West End retail businesses a run for their money. Features designer boutiques, department stores, specialty shops, a wealth of good-quality cafs, brasseries and restaurants, even dry-cleaning. Plus a 14-screen Vue cinema (open past midnight) with cheaper-than-West End prices and featuring two screens (nos 6 and 7) that are each the size of four double-decker buses. For all its largesse, the mall is relatively easy to navigate. Terribly uncool and a bit OTT, but impressive nevertheless. This was Europe's largest until its 2011-born East London Stratford sibling pounced on it. Tube stations: Wood Lane, White City, Shepherd's Bush and Shepherd's Bush Market.

If your idea of a good time is browsing all the high street chain retailers in one place you need to go there. There are lots of teenagers who think window-shopping is fun.
