Masala Zone (Soho)

Reliable and good enough Indian dishes
Hugely popular small-sized chain of colourful establishments started in 2001 and offering clean and fresh Indian food of the non-sludge variety, for the kind of decent prices that accommodate young people on a budget. This is not vital cooking — you never really forget that it's a good-quality chain rather than a special one-off place — but as a buzzy and affordable (for many) destination offering tasty food it works well enough. Other locations: Baywater, Camden Town, Covent Garden, Earls Court and Islington. Plus a self-service counter inside Selfridges department store.
