Hakkasan (Hanway Place)

(2 Ratings)
Chinese cuisine for the glamour-minded foodie

Alan Yau's dark but buzzy-stylish basement restaurant — located in a quiet street/alley behind bustling Oxford Street, immediately north of Soho — remains one of London's more celebrated spots for admittedly pricey but exquisite and inventive Chinese dishes, including dim sum. Attracts London's jet set as well as those willing or able to splurge on distinctive food in a fantasy setting designed by Christian Liaigre, with renovations in 2014. Originally opened 2001; Yau bowed out in 2009. A second branch opened in 2010 at 17 Bruton St in Mayfair. And so on: Miami, New York, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Beverly Hills, Shanghai, Mumbai, Abu Dhabi, Dubai... Note: the bar stays open well beyond kitchen hours.
