Yummy Indian
The second – and last surviving central London outlet – of mostly vegetarian Indian mini-chain Rasa, started in 1994 in Stoke Newington by Das Sreedharan. This is mildly more swish than its sibling branches and, unlike the others, includes a meat-based section of the menu, inspired by the cuisine of northern Kerala. Of particular note here are the bargain, compartmentalised lunch boxes, either for takeaway or for eating upstairs on the first floor. The plastic tray includes three small and delicious hot dishes (varies in pot luck fashion) and rice (and a rather soggy roti/paratha-type bread item), plus a tasy puddingy dessert. Located immediately south of Oxford St, two minutes from recommended department store John Lewis and dozens of other landmarks. Hanover Square – with benches for eating lunch – is just around the corner. Tube stations: Oxford Circus and Bond Street. Sadly this branch of Rasa has closed.
