The Clove Club

The symbiosis of adventurous and yummy food and the motto 'money is no object' reaches a certain apotheosis here at the Clove Club — a supper club-turned-permanent fixture opened in the summer of 2013 by Scottish chef Isaac McHale with partners Daniel Willis and Johnny Smith. Atypical ingredients inform the more innovative aspects of the menu, but there's guaranteed highs in both taste and texture from start to finish — a process that involves five courses or nine, with wine pairing an option. To be fair, prices for the à la carte option (and bar food) are perfectly in line with other high-quality establishments. The intimate but airy room is a particularly pleasing combination of sober and tasteful (and just plain nice), located in an annex of the monumental, 19th-century Shoreditch Town Hall, restored earlier this century. In 2016 the Clove Club went straight in at 26 (the highest new entry) in British magazine Restaurant's list The World's 50 Best Restaurants. Tube station: Old Street. Overground: Hoxton.
