Notes (Trafalgar Square)

The closure of once-popular classical CD music shop MDC did not signal the demise of the company, who in November 2010 cleverly reinvented their enterprise by adding coffee, pastries and light savouries to the equation. Located directly adjacent to the Coliseum — home of English National Opera — the tastefully decorated space combines the sounds of classical and jazz with the smell of good coffee. Shelves of CDs and DVDs (opera, ballet and world cinema) recall the place's true origins, with more titles to be found in the basement. One minute from Covent Garden and both Trafalgar and Leicester Squares, with Chinatown and Soho within easier-than-easy reach. Tube stations: Leicester Square and Charing Cross. In autumn 2011 a second branch opened in Wellington St, Covent Garden (now closed), followed in 2014 by Moorgate (CityPoint 1 Ropemaker St) and then several more.
