Gelupo

You'll be hard-pressed to find a conventional flavour at this blue-green-and-white-tiled gelato parlour whose made-up wolf-inspired name strikes a compatible chord with its parent restaurant Bocca di Lupo [see entry] just across the road. The ice cream is fresh (made daily), distinctive, seasonally flavoured and loaded with integrity, often involving more than one taste sensation in one go. There are in fact mainstream flavours, and the pistachio is particularly good. Sorbets and granitas are available for the less rich-and-creamy-inclined. Not cheap, but the quality is very fine. The atmosphere is not recognisably Soho, but there's most definitely a buzz surrounding this place. And straight people love it too. Started in 2010 by Victor Hugo and chef Jacob Kenedy. Refurbished in spring 2023, now with seating at the rear (in a rather darkened space). Located in a side street two minutes round three corners from Old Compton St.
