A 'high-end luxury' take on a cheap windowless hotel (though several rooms do look out), Mimi's is a converted townhouse bang in the middle of Soho — a minute's crawl north of Old Compton St, with rubber/leather sex shop Regulation a few doors away from the hotel's Bateman St entrance and clubby gay bar Circa a few doors away from the hotel's Frith St entrance [see entries]; the hotel's two entrances bookend gay-appeal corner pub the Dog and Duck (where William and Kate dropped in for a pint at the time of the coronation festivities) [see entry]. The hotel, a new construction, opened in 2017 with a textured, olde-worlde and somewhat dark and 'manly' feel. Prices veer between standard and pricey, and rooms are small and/or cupboard-like (and without cupboards), but there are fantastic deals to be had out there (e.g. an £80 room on a Sunday night in May 2023). There are seven categories of room size and price, including “tiny” (6 sqm), “mini” (7 sqm), ‘’cosy’’ (14 sqm), ‘’lux’’ (21 sqm) and "lux without window" (18 sqm). In short, pint-size posh. Handsome and regarded ground-floor cocktail bar Henson's doubles as a breakfast room.
