The first London outlet of reliable German budget hotel chain Motel One — a relatively inexpensive option, with a corporate-stylish thing gong on in an IKEA kind of way. And while the rooms are loaded with detail, they tend to be pokey and can suffer from somewhat ill-conceived design, though the situation is improving. This 290-room hotel is a 20-minute bus ride east of Soho but ever so convenient for East End distractions. There's a 24-hour bar for guests (until 2am for non-guests). Opened December 2014. Tube station: Aldgate.
