Point A Hotel London Kings Cross-St Pancras Formerly: Tune Hotel – Kings Cross, London

What do you think of this place? Love it or not?
As bargains go...
A no-frills but clean and functional-plus 2012 hotel that marked the second British outpost for the ever-expanding Malaysian-based chain. The design is basic but decent, there's no bar or restaurant and 82 of the 206 doubles have no windows, with the 26 twin rooms split evenly between the haves and have-nots. Prices are subject to demand, but in 2019 it was possible to sleep here for £60 (top price £260), ranking inarguably as one of central London's top overnight (or afternoon?) bargains. In March 2017 the company rebranded and changed the name from Tune Hotel to Point A. 35 new and bigger rooms were added in 2018. Tube station: King's Cross St Pancras, which is convenient for nearly everything, though the location in terms of quick accessibility also has a tricky aspect to it. Other branches: Westminster, Paddington, Shoreditch, Kensington (opened July 2019) and Liverpool St, the latter of which stands immediately opposite Dennis Severs's house/museum in Folgate St [see entry in Arts] in Spitalfields. Online booking only.
