Point A Hotel London Westminster Formerly: Tune Hotel – Westminster, London

What do you think of this place? Love it or not?
Ultra bargain, nearly ultra central
A no-frills but clean and functional-plus 2010 hotel that marked the first British outpost for a Malaysian-based chain that has also broken ground in Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines. The design is basic but decent, there's no bar or restaurant and 12 of the 79 doubles have no windows. Prices are subject to demand but very much on the cheap side — rock-bottom price in 2019 = £75 — ranking as one of the top overnight (or afternoon?) bargains for this area of London. Yes, it's south of the river, but only by about an eight-minute walk, with both Westminster and Waterloo Bridges within easy reach. A late-night stagger home from either Vauxhall or Soho would require no more than 20 or 25 minutes of one's inebriated attention. Point A outlets in Kings Cross and Liverpool are a bit cheaper. Tube station: Lambeth North, with Waterloo a five-minute walk away. Other branches: Kings Cross, Paddington, Kensington (openedf July 2019), Shoreditch and Liverpool St, the latter of which stands immediately opposite Dennis Severs's house/museum in Folgate St [see entry in Arts] in interesting Spitalfields. Online booking only.
