In January 2014 Brew Hunter got his boot in the door at then-waning east London leather/rubber stalwart The Backstreet (1985—2022), kicking off a series of fetish events that would both lure back seasoned leathermen and get younger guys off their phones and out the door. Backstreet reborn. But then in July 2022 the bar closed, leaving strict fetish London bereft of any after-dark options — Underground events at Central Station shut at midnight — and Hunter with nowhere to stage his signature Mastery nights and offshoots. Until July 2023, when Hunter announced a full-on return to the scene with this eponymously named sleaze session at Electrowerkz. The venue — built in the 19th century to accommodate horses that pulled city trams, then a a metalworks from 1925 — is located just round the corner from Angel Tube station, comes with a formidable gay CV, and Hunter is expanding on his hardcore leather/cigar/rubber ethos to include skins, scallies, heels/stockings/corsets and more, though the landscape is predominantly classic leather and rubber. And thanks to the venue's not so straightforward layout, there are zones for myriad moods and activities, including the Mastery Zone, the Cigar Alley, the Dark Zone, the Vintage Porno Cinema and Brew's Bar. Reminder: strict dress code. Debut night: Friday 21 July 2023, then every third Friday (8pm Foreplay Bar [starting with a Happy Hour]; 9pm Fetish Academy [themed classes]; 10pm Hunter Hardcore). Easily lures more than 300 men on a given night. Early Bird tickets go on sale a day or two after the preceding event, though these are near-impossible to come by.
