Ye Olde Rose & Crown

Ye olde straight-friendly corner pub
A relatively under-the-radar Greenwich pub that started life as a theatre bar in the 19th century and which has been happily gay since the late 1980s or so. Students get a discount on Mondays, there's bingo on Tuesdays, a quiz on Wednesdays and show tunes every Thursday, with drag-hosted cabaret across the week. Expect Soho-style DJs on Saturday nights. Standard pub food served daily noon—9pm, with a traditional roast on Sunday. Located an eight- to ten-minute walk from gay neighbour The George & Dragon [see entry]. DLR station: Cutty Sark for Maritime Greenwich. Overground: Greenwich.
