Happy days are here (in Camden) again
Following the unfortunate demise of gay Camden Town institiution the Black Cap in early 2015, maverick promoter Wayne Shires (Crash, Substation, Ghetto, Summer Rites) kindly filled the void with this "baby brother" offshoot of his continually buzzy basement club East Bloc [see entry]. In August 2016 the bar gave itself a major facelift and re-opened as The Bloc (formerly Bloc Bar). The upstairs has been reinvented as the full-on cabaret and cocktail space Her Upstairs [see entry], while the ground-floor space has a certain sexy-industrial-rustic feel, like an atmospheric saloon. Added to the mix is a very pleasing outdoor smoking enclosure that looks like a proper room, but without a ceiling. In November 2016 Steve Darragh's fitladz shifted its allegiance from Shires's City Bloc to here, every Friday. Located just seconds from Camden Town tube station. As of April 2017, Shires bowed out of this location while keeping things going at East Bloc and new location Bloc South, now home to his weekly Brüt [see entries]. Her Upstairs [see entry] has now taken over the Bloc's ground-floor space.

      Bloc bar Now Called: Her UpStairs
      Bloc bar is no more! Has been replaced by Her UpStairs GAY bar in Camden Town Her UpStairs Open all week 8 PM onwards except Tuesdays is closed Drag shows nightly from 10PM Clubbing downstairs from 11PM Camden's GAY is very well alive and kicking! Bloc Bar is now Her UpStairs GAY bar and club. http://herupstairs.co.uk

      Awful
      Went here with a flyer from Kings Arms, which said it was a Bears' pub. Arrived at 1pm and it was full of women and camp men. Won't be going there again. It's weird.
