Gay bar with other people too
One of the key defining institutions of the early- to mid-1990s Soho gay explosion has been reinvented as a determinedly mixed space, albeit with an undeniable gay sensibility behind it. The soberly camp ground-floor cocktail bar combines shades of charcoal with a pink glow, while comfy private booths and banquettes offer sanctuary for those who can talk above the mildly clubby commercial pop and light house. Mini chandeliers dangle above the bar, while an entire population of disco balls obscure the ceiling of the slick basement club space, which is open until 3am Thursday, Friday and Sunday. Monday = Kinky Kabaret and Wednesday = a variety of burlesque, drag artists, singers and dancers. Opens downstairs on a Tuesday depending on numbers. Current management since 2008.
