A gay-friendly smart-casual food-and-drinkees cocktail lounge attracting mostly gay men and straight women in an area not strongly associated with gay bars. Ultra-convenient for City workers in need of a stiff drink. Basement party room Sub-Ember opens until 4am, normally for pre-booked gatherings. Food menu features a range of burgers, salads and sandwiches. Opened September 2012. London's first official LGBT Middle Eastern club night Habibi [see entry] happened here until spring 2014. And since new management in 2014, Ember is less actively gay-friendly than before, but perhaps still enough to qualify for these listings. Tube station: Farringdon, then a minute's walk.
