SM Gays (at Bunker)
Started in 1981, SM Gays is a not-for-profit social and educational group for gay men interested in consensual, sexual sadomasochism. From the late 1990s until November 2016 it met at Vauxhall's leather bar the Hoist on the third Thursday of every month, but the Vauxhall venue closed in December 2016. SM Gays then shifted around, ultimately taking up residency at Wayne Shires's Bloc South. As of May 2019, following the demise of Bloc South, SM Gays meets every third Thursday of the month at Bunker [see entry] in City Rd, minutes from Old Street Tube station.
