Gummi PERMANENTLY DORMANT?

London has long been the world capital for fetish rubber — a moist and damp culture with men in wellies and waders — and Gummi (German word for rubber) remains its most organised outlet. Staged monthly, Gummi caters to the full stretch of rubber enthusiasts, whether pissy, scatty, industrial, skinhead-leaning, breath-controlling and/or fist-loving. Not quite the club it once was, not always very pretty and not staged at a particularly sexy time of the week (or day for that matter), Gummi nevertheless goes on. Neoprene, PVC and heavy-duty industrial waterproof gear all embraced here. Started Wednesday 4 March 1992. As of December 2016 Gummi is looking for a new home following the closure of the Hoist, though it's unclear if Gummi, whose numbers were way down in the last years, is gone forever. Watch this space.
