Admiral Duncan

(54 Ratings)
Open and accessible bar on Soho's gay catwalk

Popular and very centrally located Soho haunt known for its friendly staff and jukebox of hits from the 80s, 90s and beyond. Has a quaint provincial-neighbourhood feel despite its hot location, with outdoor drinking (in a cordoned-off area) overlooking Old Compton St a bonus. A good old-fashioned drinking hangout, with cabaret introduced into the roster in 2012. Gets quite crowded, especially on Saturday nights. On 30 April 1999 a neo-Nazi nail-bombed the pub, having targeted London's black and Bangladeshi communities in the two previous weeks. The explosion killed three Admiral Duncan customers and seriously injured many others.

Intimate local feel to this pub

Small bar on Old Compton Street. Good for a drink or two in the evening. Attracts an eclectic crowd. I've never been quite able to see the particular attraction of the place, but it seems to have carved out a niche.
