Popular and very centrally located Soho haunt known for its friendly staff and jukebox of hits from the 80s, 90s and beyond. Has a quaint provincial-neighbourhood feel despite its hot location, with outdoor drinking (in a cordoned-off area) overlooking Old Compton St a bonus. A good old-fashioned drinking hangout, with cabaret introduced into the roster in 2012. Gets quite crowded, especially on Saturday nights. On 30 April 1999 a neo-Nazi nail-bombed the pub, having targeted London's black and Bangladeshi communities in the two previous weeks. The explosion killed three Admiral Duncan customers and seriously injured many others.

Traditional pub
The Admiral Duncan is the quintessential idea of a British pub but with a mostly gay clientele. The pub is heavily embraced gay culture and is named after the Adm. Duncan who was the one to defeat the Dutch fleet in 1797. This pub has an amazing past and real history in London as it was attacked in 1999 by a neo-Nazi group. Today you can see a chandelier which was hung in memory of those who were injured in this attack so many years ago. This attack paved way for broader relations between local government and police with the gay community and since these grievous actions took place the community has grown into something absolutely beautiful that needs to be seen to believed. This historic day bar is truly one of the must stop locations for any gay tourist in London due to its elaborate history and beautiful atmosphere.
An important place
This friendly bar is surprisingly attitude free given it's Soho location. The target of a bomb 'in' which several people died, the memorial to them is a bronze sculpture which is suspended from the ceiling 'in' the bar.
