Ham House and Garden

(3 Ratings)
Return to the 17th century
A spendid red-brick 1610 house (expanded in the 1670s) that was largely the vision of Elizabeth Murray, Countess of Dysart, who was committed to the restoration of the monarchy, resulting in a palace that is "unique in Europe as the most complete survival of 17th century fashion and power." Opening hours are rather complicated, with only the basement of the house open between November and mid-March. House tours available out of season. Overground and Tube stations: Richmond, then a 20-minute bus ride (371 or 65).

Hours
House: Mid-March to November noon—4pm daily, with Fri limited tour only
Garden: 10am—dusk daily
