Open-minded arts and theatre establisment going back to the 1960s, specialising in comedy and drama with serious and sometimes camp attention to productions involving gays, lesbians, disabled and youth, and never politically shy. In 2020 Ovalhouse (previously Oval House Theatre) closed its Kennington Oval premises and two years later – " to improve building facilities and to ensure a sustainable future" – shifted to new complex in Brixton, rebranding itself as Brixton House. Talent associated with the theatre in the early days of their career include Steven Berkoff, Howard Brenton, Pierce Brosnan, Stella Duffy, Tamsin Greig, David Hare, Tim Roth and Salman Rushdie.
