The Photographers' Gallery

(8 Ratings)
Britain's first independent gallery devoted to photography
Started in 1971 on Great Newport St as a space for photographers to display, discuss and sell their work and to promote it as a serious international art form, this gallery remains the UK's primary venue for contemporary photography. Located just inside Soho's frame on the northern tip that hangs just below Oxford St [shopping shopping shopping] and within a minute of Carnaby St to the south, the gallery took over the current space in 2011. Tube station: Oxford Circus. Walking distance from Old Compton St: six minutes.
