Victoria Miro

Big contemporary art gallery showcasing big names
Victoria Miro has launched the careers of several internationally renowned artists, and her move east from Mayfair to this sexy high-ceilinged converted Victorian furniture factory has paid off. The Miro set includes Hernan Bas, Pete Doig, Chris Offili, Elmgreen & Dragset and Grayson Perry, to name a scant few. The gallery feels kind of in the middle of nowhere, but in actual fact is walking distance from both Angel and Old Street tube stations. The Hoxton/Shoreditch art ghetto can be reached on foot in under ten minutes. You could do worse than a cheap lunch at the comfortingly English and dirt-cheap Shepherdess Cafe [221 City Rd]. Miro's second outlet is located in Mayfair at 14 St George St.
