Gagosian Gallery

With spaces in New York, Beverly Hills, Rome, Paris, Athens and Hong Kong, art mogul Larry Gagosian consistently sits near the top of serious lists of international gallerist heavies. In October 2015 Gagosian opened a new Mayfair space in a new purpose-bullt structure at 20 Grosvenor Hill, one minute north of Berkeley Square. However, of his three London spaces, this central-ish Kings Cross venue is perhaps the most splendid, with its sprawl of polished concrete and high ceilings — practically de rigeur for a major contemporary art gallery, yes, but sexy nevertheless. Names names names: Richard Serra, Walter De Maria, Jeff Koons, Ed Ruscha, Howard Hodgkin, Rachel Whiteread and John Currin, to name a few. And if the art leaves you feeling peckish, there's lunch nearby in Granary Square, including restaurant Dishoom [see entry]. Plus much-better-than-average viennoiserie and patisserie four minutes away at Aux Pains de Papy (279 Grays Inn Rd).
