What we say

London's ultimate food porn destination
Tremendously popular, buzzy and trendy retail food market in an atmospheric, oldy-worldy and visually pleasing 19th-century setting, also home to a 250-year-old wholesale market. Started in 2000, this deluxe take on a farmers' market caters not just to lovers of fine cheeses, meats, produce, chocolates, cut flowers, specialty foods etc. but to those who know a thing of beauty when they see it, not to mention those in need of a quick venison burger at lunchtime. Set in the shadow of lovely Southwark Cathedral, the market is open Friday and Saturday, is located just by London Bridge tube station and is just a nine-minute walk from Tate Modern art gallery. Other businesses within the market include branches of Monmouth Coffee Company [see entry], Neal's Yard Dairy and Konditor & Cook [see Food] and Maria's Market Café, which offers the area's best fry-up [egg/bacon/chips/mushrooms/toast/tea etc.].
