Harrods

With over 300 departments, Harrods is a mammouth shopping adventure, with nearly every facet of human existence catered for in some product or consumer form. The meandering ground-floor food halls perhaps define the store as a tourist destination, as do the suitably high-profile summer and January sales. Owned since 1985 by Mohamed Al-Fayed [father of Dodi, who in 1997 died with Diana, Princess of Wales in the Paris car crash], the store is not without its detractors, but the pull of the place is undeniable.
