Traditional English and French dishes with a side of camp
Slightly off the map in an arty corner of East London's Bethnal Green, this trendy and lively good-food restaurant got a noticeable refurbishment in 2012, with the restaurant expanded and the basement cabaret space and gin bar removed. The main floor is now open plan. And in late May 2012 owners Pablo Flack and David Waddington spread their seed east to King's Cross with Shrimpy's — a stylish pop-up restaurant with a three-year tenancy inside The Filling Station, which took over a former petrol station overlooking the canal. Atmosphere at Shrimpy's evokes mid-century faded Hollywood glamour via South America, with a tasty but not inexpensive menu to match. Palm Springs informs Shrimpy's, inspired by the canal location.
