An immobile home for chef Yianni Papoutsis and partner Scott Collins's burger-and-hot dog enterprise, which started life on wheels in south London (MEATwagon). Perched above the overlit Jubilee Market Hall on the south side of the Covent Garden piazza, MEATmarket does not provide a quiet oasis from the tourist-friendly hustle and bustle below, but does guarantee an affordable, tasty and modern burger — most famously the Dead Hippie — that embraces the greasier pleasures of the genre; it is neither tidy nor uptight, and the ingredients are of a high standard. Highbrow hot dogs too, and boozey milkshakes. Ever so convenient for those who might crave beef after a workout at neighbouring Jubilee Hall gym. Opened May 2012. Tube station: Covent Garden.
