The Delaunay

A terrifically pleasing, buzzy and welcoming restaurant that injects old-fashioned values (wood, leather, banquettes, warm glow and comfort food) with a slightly modern kick, the Delaunay is yet another instant success story for Christopher Corbin and Jeremy King, who in 2003 gave London the still-fabulous Wolseley [see entry]. The Delaunay menu will look and read very familiar to Wolseley faithfuls, with English classics and German and Viennese favourites dominating the savoury and sweet offerings. Breakfasts are a big deal here, as are the afternoon tea and Sunday lunches. Stylish (with the odd bling) and occasionally starry but never snooty, like its older sibling, the Delaunay wants your business and knows how to run the show. A smile. Opened December 2011.
