Cocomaya NEW OWNER, RE-OPENS 27 MARCH *

Artisan cakes, pastries and chocolates
Tucked quietly between buzzy, Arab-friendly Edgware Rd and Hyde Park is a village-like London pocket marked by pretty-pretty Connaught Sq — the armed guards testify to Tony Blair's continued residence — and its genteel tributary of shops, Connaught St, which is where you'll find this excellent, rustic-like and rather precious tea room, patisserie and chocolatier. Not unlike what you'd see in a window display at Ottolenghi [see entry], eye-catchingly beautiful cakes and pastries haughtily show themselves on plates positioned at various heights for mouthwatering, theatrical effect. Much is good here, with the cinnamon bun a particular plus. Opened October 2009 by a trio with a pedigree stretching from Agent Provacateur to Liberty, who then sold the business in early 2015. Tube station: Marble Arch. Open Mon to Sat 8am—7pm; Sun 8am—6pm. A further outlet can be found in Chelsea, just off Sloane Square at Unit 10, 186 Pavilion Road.
