As bargains go...
A no-frills but clean and functional-plus 2012 hotel that marked the second British outpost for the ever-expanding Malaysian-based chain. The design is basic but decent, TV costs a bit extra, there's no bar or restaurant and 48 of the 185 doubles have no windows, with the 26 twin rooms split evenly between the haves and have-nots. Prices are subject to demand, but in 2012 it's possible to sleep here for £35 (top price £95), ranking inarguably as one of central London's top overnight (or afternoon?) bargains. Tube station: King's Cross St Pancras, which is convenient for nearly everything. Other branches as of 2014: Westminster, Paddington and Liverpool St, the latter of which stands immediately opposite Dennis Severs's house/museum in Folgate St [see entry in Arts] in interesting Spitalfields. Online booking only.
