Luxurious red-brick-Victorian hotel just a few miles east of most of the action
The first of Hyatt Hotels' Andaz brand is a recently redeveloped and very stylish 1884 structure located in the olde-worlde financial district of London, featuring 267 luxuriously appointed guest rooms. Things to see within easy reach: the City of London (historical London mixed with newer skyline landmarks such as Richard Rogers's Lloyd's of London and Norman Foster's so-called Gherkin), atmospheric Spitalfields (Fournier and Princelet Streets, Dennis Severs' House [see entry], Hawksmoor's Christ Church Spitalfields, Brick Lane etc) and, slightly further afield, Whitechapel. Located adjacent to Liverpool St station (underground and overground trains), with fast journeys to Soho and beyond and good connections to the Eurostar terminal at St Pancras and a direct connection to Stansted airport.
