The 20-minute short is directed by porn king Kristen Bjorn from a shelved 1976 screenplay by a corduroy- and leather-loving “celebrated theatrical knight” whose name must not be mentioned for legal reasons. Produced in London by cult gay, comedy and horror specialist David McGillivray as a tribute to erotic film-maker Peter de Rome (1924–2014), TROUSER BAR takes bulbous pleasure in straddling the sexy and the comic. In short, this is good-natured soft-core porn with no dialogue but tickling with a customised neo-retro soundtrack by Stephen Thrower. Several wigged-beyond-recognition international porn professionals appear in very tight trousers, in and out of the changing rooms. The film received its world premiere in March at BFI Flare. Also on the bill is a selection of period shorts by influential director Peter de Rome.
