After an exciting and praised inaugural production at the Arcola Theatre, the groundbreaking and evocative Blacksploitation is back and this time it's in collaboration with the fabulous team at Chelsea Theatre.
Blacksploitation is an electric and eclectic cabaret extravaganza featuring an incredible cast of performers representing the QTPOC community and their allies. This scintillating and moving event will focus specifically on black performers in the UK burlesque, cabaret and performance scene.
The show's name comes from the landmark movement in American cinema and black entertainment history, and similar movements and moments the show will explore and celebrate, but also two fingers up at the lack of representation of POC and QITPOC in contemporary cabaret and burlesque programming.
Hosted by the formidable, award wining vocalist and diva Mzz Kimberley (London’s Supperclub, Shoreditch House, Century Club) the show promises to be as entertaining as it is evocative; an exploration of history, visibility and power.
