EARTH MINUS by Dimitrios Skyllas at Westminster Abbey - Premiered by Ourania Gassiou

We are thrilled to invite you to the world premiere of Dimitrios Skyllas's EARTH MINUS, performed by the extraordinary organist Ourania Gassiou! EARTH MINUS is inspired by Greek lamentations (moirologia) of the Epirus region and two important creative figures of our time, Björk Guðmundsdóttir and Bill Viola. It was commissioned specifically for Gassiou's performance at the Abbey. The idea derives from a wide range of lamentation songs, including the tune "Siko Mariola", revealing the composer's intention to express the aesthetic, physiological and emotional pulse of this tradition. combined with his influence from Björk's and Viola's work, all perceived in a personal and organ(ic!) point of view. *Admission free - Early arrival is strongly recommended Recital's Programme: Brahms - Prelude and Fugue in G minor D.
