World-renowned classical harpist, arranger and composer Catrin Finch will perform at a special evening on Saturday 16 May in support of WaterAid's Nepal Earthquake Appeal and the London Canal Museum. The concert coincides with the launch of her UK tour, which starts in Wales in May and the rest of the UK in October, and an exhibition of paintings by Simon Tarrant at the London Canal Museum from 5 - 31 May 2015.
Catrin will perform Argentinian Tangos, Bach, Faure, Hindemith, Smetana and a selection of compositions from her latest album 'Tides'.
Simon, an artist and art curator, created the artwork 'Red Sky' for 'Tides' and this exhibition will showcase a new series of his paintings inspired by water. The exhibition will include a prize draw of his artwork 'Tide at Gwenver' to raise funds for WaterAid's Nepal Earthquake Appeal.
Described as “The Queen of Harps”, Catrin has gifted the track Changing Tides to raise money for WaterAid and help bring safe water, toilets and hygiene to some of the world’s poorest communities.
Catrin said “I became a WaterAid ambassador after Iearning that there are over 748 million people living without access to safe, clean water - a human tragedy that results in the needless deaths of over 1400 children every single day. As a mother I hope to help raise money and encourage people to support WaterAid’s mission - to bring safe, clean water to everyone everywhere by 2030.”
Simon added "The recent earthquake in Nepal is clearly devastating for a nation already struggling to provide adequate sanitation to half its population. I am actively fundraising for WaterAid's Nepal Earthquake Appeal to provide emergency water supplies, hygiene kits, water purification tablets and emergency trenches for sanitation."
