Founded in 2009, the formula for the Kilo is a simple one; offering a window into wholesale life, the event lets shoppers play trader for a day, scouring over 3 tonnes of vintage and simply paying per weight. Priced at £15 per kilo you can shop menswear, womenswear and childrenswear. Dresses, denim, jumpers to tees, with many combinations taking change from a twenty.
Championed by Stylist, Timeout and the London Evening Standard as a revolutionary new way to shop, it’s vintage without the worry-lines.
Unlike other events, The Kilo Sale is much more than its rails and rummage tubs. Alongside ladies, children’s and gents outfits, the event offers reworked vintage, accessories and a much-needed dose of vintage on a shoestring, with wholesale vintage jewellery priced from 50p. In a time of financial crisis, The Vintage Kilo team understand that buying bulk may not be everyone’s cup of tea; offering all items individually, prices still remain affordable, with dresses, shirts, jumpers and tees all generating change from a tenner.
A popular choice with thrifters, designers and London’s east-end crowd, The Vintage Kilo Sale regularly sees over 1,000 shoppers over the 5 hour opening period.
Offering an economical yet exciting way to shop the big A/W trends such as heritage, dark romance and of course the 1990s, founder Judy Berger calls it ‘taking retro to its roots.’ Acknowledged by the likes of Elle, Asos and Stylist, shoppers can expect the same high standard from ‘Vintage’ festival curator, bringing vintage that’s affordable, eclectic and always ‘worth the weight.’
