Ostgut Ton Nacht (at Dance Tunnel) (Closed Permanently)

Gay-appeal music event staged every five or six weeks at excellently bunker-like below-ground Dalston club Dance Tunnel, whose name makes reference to New York's now defunct house/techno hot spot Tunnel (1986–2001). But this particular night on Dance Tunnel's calendar owes a certain something to current-day gay Berlin, notably its mecca-like music-and-sex club the Berghain, whose very own record label Ostgut Ton namechecks the club's former east Berlin venue Ostgut, demolished in 2004. In short, the emphasis here is on the music, played on a Funktion One sound system and shared on each occasion by one London DJ and one from the Berghain proper (or its gay/straight-popular in-house Panorama Bar). Exposed brick, concrete, wood panelling, minimal but atmospheric lighting and an overall stripped-back look define the 200-capacity space. And there's a smoking area out front. Started officially March 2014. Located underneath popular pizza parlour Voodoo Ray's. Overground stations: Dalston Kingsland and Dalston Junction. Sadly Dance Tunnel went dark forever on 7 August 2016.
